Artash Terzian was born in Sukhumi, Caucasus, in 1953. He graduated from the school of music and the University of Music of Sukhumi where he studied under Professor Nikolai Pelonkin. He won a place at the Conservatory of Gorky (Nizni Novgorod) where he studied in the class of distinguished professor Ghuri Vasiliev who he followed afterwards to the Conservatory of Kishinev to pursue further studies. During his studies, Artash Terzian won many prizes for his participation in music competitions and festivals. On completion of his studies, he worked in Germany for 7 years as leader and director of a violin ensemble appearing frequently all over the country, as well as taking part in on several occasions as a soloist of the classical repertoire.

He returned to Sukhumi and worked as a soloist in the State Symphony Orchestra as well as leader and director of Baroque Music Quintet. As a soloist in the aforementioned orchestra, he participated in many first performances of works by Caucasian composers. As a soloist, he has also participated, by a pipe organ accompaniment, in lots of concerts carried out in Petsounda Monastery in Abhazia. At the same time he ‘s run many recordings for the Abhazian National Television and the National Radio and Television of Tiflis (Georgia) as well. An essential part of his artistic activities at that time was the performance with piano of many baroque and romantic works as well as a keen interest in traditional music of all nations. During this time he gave many concerts and recitals in Abhazir, Georgia, Adjara, Ukraine, Russia, Greece and Cyprus.

The war in Georgia put an end to his career there. He settled in Greece and took up the post of second concertino in the Orchestra of Colors formed by Manos Hadjidakis. He expanded his musical activities by appearing as a soloist in a number of cities abroad and all over Greece as well as on National Radio and Television.

He has produced 2 CDs with the titles "Caravan" and "Gypsy Tunes".

In the spring of 2006 he formed the ARCOPOLIS ensemble whereby, being the director and the soloist himself, excites the senses traveling his audience through nostalgic tunes of popular and folk musical tradition of Russia, Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Greece and other countries.

Critics have emphasized that Artash Terzian's performances are characterized by virtuosity and a perfect approach to his style of works which touch directly the human soul.

Artash Terzian is currently a member of the State Orchestra of Athens.
