Vyacheslav Vasil'evich Tihonov rodilsya 8 fevralya 1928 goda v Moskovskoj oblasti. V 1950 godu zakonchil akterskij fakul'tet VGIKa; kinodebyut sostoyalsya v fil'me "Molodaya gvardiya" v 1948 godu. Izvestnost' Tihonov poluchil v ostroharakternyh rolyah Matveya Morozova("Delo bylo v Pen'kove", 1958) i Viktora Rajskogo ("Chrezvychajnoe proisshestvie", 1959). V kino akter sozdal ryad liricheskih i geroicheskih obrazov, iz kotoryh naibolee znachitel'ny: Aleksej ("Optimisticheskaya tragediya", 1963), knyaz' Andrej ("Vojna i mir", 1966--67), Mel'nikov ("Dozhivem do ponedel'nika", 1968). Krupnejshej rabotoj Tihonova, zavoevavshej poistine vsenarodnuyu populyarnost', stal obraz sovetskogo razvedchika polkovnika Isaeva-Shtirlica v mnogoserijnom telefil'me "Semnadcat' mgnovenij vesny" (1972). Zatem akter igral Strel'cova ("Oni srazhalis' za Rodinu", 1975), Ivan Ivanovicha ("Belyj Bim Chernoe Uho", 1977). V nachale 80-h Tihonov snyalsya v roli generala KGB v drugoj mnogoserijnoj lente - "TASS upolnomochen zayavit'...". V 1994 godu snyalsya v fil'me N.Mihalkova "Utomlennye solncem".
