KeepMoving Records presents Pavel Tursunov’s ballett score for Khoja Nasreddin, based on the writings of Leonid Solovyov.
The folksy wisdom, the incredible journeys and the colorful personality of Khoja Nasreddin not only allowed for an original scenario, but also a story that was equally interesting for Russian and Turkis audiences as well. These selections from the score were recorded by conductor Konstantin Krimets, who also premiered the work in Istanbul with the Turkish Symphony Orchestra. The full ballet was eventually staged in Moscow Operetta Theater with choreographer Edvald Smirnov. This marks the premiere release of the music – a new development for KeepMoving Records, whose previous film score releases are now expanding to the world of concert music as well.
The booklet features commentary by the composer, discussing his inspirations and history of the ballet.
