Georgiy Antonovich Shtil' rodilsya 4 marta 1932 goda v Leningrade. V 1961 godu on okonchil Leningradskiy teatral'nyy institut imeni A.N.Ostrovskogo i v tom zhe godu vstupil v truppu Leningradskogo akademicheskogo Bol'shogo dramaticheskogo teatra imeni M.Gor'kogo(s 1992 goda – ABDT imeni G.A.Tovstonogova).

Na scene e'togo teatra akter proshel znamenituyu «tovstonogovskuyu» shkolu, zdes' on s uspehom vystupaet i segodnya. V kino Georgiy Shtil' nachal snimat'sya v 1960 godu, sygrav okolo sta roley. Sredi zametnyh fil'mov s uchastiem aktera mozhno nazvat' kartinu Vladimira Motylya «Zhenya, Zhenechka i «katyusha», «Intervenciyu» Gennadiya Poloki, dramu Alekseya Germana «Sed'moy sputnik», e'kranizaciyu romana R.-L.Stivensona «Ostrov sokrovisch», postavlennuyu Vladimirom Vorob'evym, muzykal'nuyu lentu Yana Frida «Vol'nyy veter», komediyu Ally Surikovoy «Bud'te moim muzhem...», «Staruyu, staruyu skazku» Nadezhdy Kosheverovoy, muzykal'nuyu skazku «Novogodnie priklyucheniya Mashi i Viti».

Akter mnogo rabotal na Leningradskom televidenii, igraya v telespektaklyah («Zahudaloe korolevstvo»).
Odna iz poslednih roley Georgiya Shtilya - v fil'me Gennadiya Poloki «Vozvraschenie bronenosca».
