Rodilsya v Donetske v seme muzykantov. Otets okonchil konservatoriyu po klassu udarnye instrumenty, mat rabotala prepodavatelem v muzykalnom uchilishche.
V 5 let Evgeniy nauchilsya igrat na barabanah, a vskore obnaruzhil sposobnosti v korotkoe vremya osvaivat lyuboy muzykalnyy instrument. K semnadtsati godam, kogda bolshinstvo podrostkov tolko nachinayut aktivno interesovatsya muzykoy, Evgeniy Filatov uzhe igral na basu, gitarah, klavishnyh, udarnyh i krutil plastinki na svoih pervyh DJ-setah.
V 1999 godu pod psevdonimom Dj Major Evgeniy Filatov nachinaet vystupat v kachestve DJ na klubnyh ploshchadkah rodnogo Donetska. Ego gastrolnaya biografiya rasprostranyaetsya snachala na krupnye goroda Ukrainy, a zatem i na territoriyu Rossii i drugih postsovetskih gosudarstv.
V 1999 godu Evgeniy nachinaet rabotat nad remiksami na kompozitsii populyarnyh ispolniteley. Pervoy rabotoy, poluchivshey shirokuyu izvestnost, stanovitsya ego remiks na kompozitsiyu Belle v ispolnenii pop-dueta Smash.
V 2002 godu pereezzhaet v Kiev, dlya togo chtoby aktivney zanimatsya muzykoy i muzykalnym prodakshenom. So vremenem nachinaet rabotat prakticheski so vsemi vedushchimi pop-ispolnitelyami Ukrainy: Ani Lorak, Nataley Mogilevskoy, Svetlanoy Lobodoy, Tinoy Karol, Gaytanoy, Alenoy Vinnitskoy i mnogimi drugimi.
V kontse 2007 goda Evgeniy Filatov nachinaet vystupat i zapisyvatsya pod psevdonimom The Maneken.
The Maneken: "Ya predstavil sebe, chto muzyka – eto odezhda, a maneken – eto nekaya bolvanka, kotoraya est iznachalno. I na etot maneken ya odevayu raznuyu muzyku, to est yavlyayus, po suti, dizaynerom muzykalnoy odezhdy, predlagayu kakuyu-to kollektsiyu. Vot na pervom albome The Maneken odet v odezhdu fank, disko i soul-muzyki, a v sleduyushchem obyazatelno budut kakie-to novye elementy. Takoe otnoshenie slozhilos u menya, potomu chto ya uzhe bolee pyati let zanimayus muzykalnym prodakshenom i pishu muzyku v raznyh stilyah, to est bukvalno shyu odezhdu na lyuboy vkus".
