Regimantas Adomajtis rodilsya 31 yanvarya 1937 goda v gorode Shyaulyaj v Litve. Hotya teatrom on uvleksya esche v shkole, gde uchastvoval v samodeyatel'nosti, a potom zanimalsya v studencheskom dramkruzhke, Adomajtis snachala okonchil fiziko-matematicheskij fakul'tet Vil'nyusskogo universiteta v 1959 godu, i lish' potom, v 1962 godu, - akterskij fakul'tet Litovskoj konservatorii. V 1962-68 godah rabotal v Kaunasskom dramaticheskom teatre, s 1968 goda - akter akademicheskogo teatra dramy v Vil'nyuse. V nastoyaschee vremya vyhodit nascenu srazu chetyreh vil'nyusskih teatrov - Nacional'nogo dramaticheskogo, Malogo, Teatra russkoj dramy i E'tnograficheskogo - v poslednem stavyatsya p'esy po motivam narodnyh skazanij. V kino Regimantas Adomajtis debyutiroval u Vitautasa Zhalakyavichusa - v fil'me"Hronika odnogo dnya", a zatem tot zhe rezhisser priglasil aktera snyat'sya v nyne samoj, pozhaluj, znamenitoj litovskoj kartine "Nikto ne hotel umirat'" (1966), gde ego partnerami byli Yuozas Budrajtis i Donatas Banionis. Sredi drugih rabot Adomajtisa v kino mozhno nazvat' takie fil'my, kak "Korol' Lir", "E'to sladkoe slovo - svoboda", "Kentavry", "Mirazh", "Bogach, bednyak...", "Trest, kotoryj lopnul".
