Roman Andreevich Karcev (nastoyaschaya ego familiya - Kac) rodilsya 20 maya 1939 goda Odesse. S 1956 goda, okonchiv srednyuyu shkolu, on rabotal na shveynoy fabrike. Svoy tvorcheskiy put' Roman Karcev nachinal v samodeyatel'nosti, s 1960 goda rabotal v odesskom teatre "Parnas-2". V 1962 godu on uehal iz Odessy v Leningrad i vmeste so svoim postoyannym partnerom Viktorom Il'chenko prishel k Arkadiyu Raykinu v Leningradskiy teatr miniatyur. V 1969 godu Roman Karcev i Viktor Il'chenko stali laureatami Vsesoyuznogo konkursa artistov e'strady i v tom zhe godu nachali samostoyatel'nuyu rabotu, sozdav vmeste s Mihailom Zhvaneckim Odesskiy teatr miniatyur, kotoryy cherez 10 let stal Moskovskim teatrom miniatyur pod rukovodstvom M.M.Zhvaneckogo. V e'tom teatre uvideli svet takie spektakli, kak "Ptichiy polet", "Polnochnoe kabare", ogromnoy populyarnost'yu do sih por pol'zuyutsya v ispolnenii Romana Karceva e'stradnye nomera "Raki", "Nachal'nik transportnogo ceha", "Kassir Sidorov". V 1972 godu Roman Karcev okonchil akterskiy fakul'tet GITISa. V kino artist vpervye poyavilsya v detskom telefil'me "Volshebnyy golos Dzhel'somino". Sredi fil'mov s ego uchastiem takzhe "Bindyuzhnik i korol'", "Nechistaya sila", "Predskazanie", "Noev kovcheg", "Nebesa obetovannye", "Starye klyachi". Luchshey rabotoy Romana Karceva v kino na segodnya yavlyaetsya rol' Shvondera v e'kranizacii povesti Mihaila Bulgakova "Sobach'e serdce", sozdannoy v 1988 godu rezhisserom Vladimirom Bortko.
