Ivan Sergeevich Bortnik rodilsya 16 aprelya 1939 goda v Moskve. Okonchiv v 1961 godu Teatral'noe uchilische imeni B.V.Schukina, on do 1967 goda rabotal v Teatre imeni N.V.Gogolya, a v 1967 godu pereshel v truppu Teatra na Taganke, gde stal odnim iz veduschih akterov.Vpervye v kino Ivan Bortnik snyalsya v 1962 godu - v fil'me "Ispoved'" on sygral rol' Vasiliya. Glavnuyu rol' akter ispolnil v skazochnoy kartine "Ivan da Mar'ya" (1974). Mnogim zritelyam akter zapomnilsya po koloritnoy figure bandita Promokashki iz mnogoseriynoylenty Stanislava Govoruhina "Mesto vstrechi izmenit' nel'zya". K chislu interesnyh rabot Ivana Bortnika mozhno otnesti roli, sygrannye im v dramaticheskoy lente "Zerkalo dlya geroya", snyatoy Vladimirom Hotinenko po odnoimennoy povesti S.Rybasa, v dokumental'nomdetektive "Ubiystvo na Zhdanovskoy", v kartinah "Nochevala tuchka zolotaya...", v "Rodne". Iz poslednih fil'mov s uchastiem aktera - "Vozvraschenie bronenosca" Gennadiya Poloki i "Musul'manin" Vladimira Hotinenko.
