Kalyanov Aleksandr Ivanovich rodilsya 26 avgusta 1947 v g. Unecha Bryanskoj oblasti — estradnyj pevets, kompozitor, aranzhirovschik, prodyuser.

Zakonchil radiotehnicheskij institut v Taganroge. S 1978 rabotal zvukorezhisserom vo Dvortse sporta v Kazani v sostave gruppy «SHESTERO MOLODYH». Bolshoe vliyanie na buduschego pevtsa okazalo lichnoe znakomstvo s Vladimirom Vysotskim, sostoyavsheesya vo vremya kontsertov Vysotskogo v Kazani.

Kalyanov rabotal zvukorezhisserom v drugih kollektivah — «KRASNYE MAKI», «FENIKS», a takzhe u Aleksandra Barykina, Ally Pugachevoj. V 1984 na repetitsionnoj baze Pugachevoj Kalyanov organizoval pervuyu chastnuyu studiyu zvukozapisi v Moskve «Ton-servis». S etogo vremeni rabotaet takzhe kak saund-prodyuser: mnozhestvo pesen izvestnyh rossijskih estradnyh artistov zapisano imenno na studii Kalyanova (sotrudnichal s Vladimirom Kuzminym, Igorem Nikolaevym, Irinoj Allegrovoj, Natashej Korolevoj i drugimi).

V 1988 Kalyanov debyutiroval kak pevets na «Rozhdestvenskih vstrechah» Ally Pugachevoj s pesnej "Staroe kafe" (muzyka Vyacheslava Gorbatova). Zatem on nachinaet gastrolirovat po Rossii, stranam SNG i za rubezhom; vystupaet dlya russkoyazychnoj publiki (shest raz byl v Amerike, daval kontserty v Izraile, Germanii).

S 1986 po 1997 vyshlo shest albomov Kalyanova (neredko «piratskimi» izdaniyami): «Staroe kafe», «Bud zdorov, druzhok», «Taganka», «Za kordon», «Plohaya primeta», «Nochnoj patrul». Sam pevets otnosit svoe tvorchestvo k stilyu «russkij shanson», voshodyaschemu k tvorchestvu Arkadiya Severnogo, Aleksandra Galicha, Vladimira Vysotskogo.
