Bard music was the Soviet era's most intimate art form: one voice, one guitar, and words that could not be published in newspapers. Vysotsky, Okudzhava, Galich and dozens of other singer-songwriters built an audience of millions through live performance and unofficial recordings. Their songs remain essential listening today.
